The Ghana Tech Summit: Impact on Africa’s Future of Innovation

The Ghana Tech Summit is a 13-year initiative that aims to revitalize Ghana’s entrepreneurial economy and reposition it as a global study of catalyzed innovation within an emerging market country. The summit is organized by the Global Startup Ecosystem (GSE), which is the first and largest digital accelerator that accelerates 1,000 companies to market annually across 90 countries entirely online. The summit is also supported by Trezor, a leading hardware wallet company that launched its educational program in Africa, as well as other local and international partners.

The theme of the 2023 edition of the Ghana Tech Summit is “Ghana@100”, which looks at the future of Ghana in a post-modern world. The summit will explore how Ghana can leverage technology and entrepreneurship to achieve its development goals and become a global leader in innovation.

The summit will consist of speakers, panels, workshops, and networking sessions that will cover topics such as fintech, e-commerce, health tech, agri tech, ed tech, media tech, and more. Some of the speakers and panelists include Ndaba Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela and the founder of Africa Rising Foundation, Tim Draper, a legendary venture capitalist and the founder of Draper University, Naveen Jain, a serial entrepreneur and the founder of Moon Express, and Jovenel Moise, the current president of Haiti and a champion of digital transformation.

The Ghana Tech Summit and its related initiatives have made a significant impact on the Ghanaian and African entrepreneurial ecosystem. The summit has featured keynote speakers from leading companies such as Google, Facebook, Uber, Twitter, IBM, Microsoft, as well as influential figures such as Ndaba Mandela, Ben Horowitz, Tim Draper, Naveen Jain, and the current president of Haiti Jovenel Moise.

The summit has also showcased the success stories of Ghanaian entrepreneurs and startups that are making an impact in the local and global markets, such as BitSika, a fintech platform that enables cross-border payments using bitcoin, and Farmerline, a social enterprise that provides mobile and web-based services to smallholder farmers.
