3D Printing

The 3D Printing technology creates a three-dimensional object using a computer. This is also known as additive manufacturing, in which layers of material are built to create the 3D printing. This technology is making remarkable results in the digital world.

According to studies, the 3D printing industry has grown about 16.17% per year from 2017 to 2022. In 2022, it also increased by 14.4% in market size. This huge number exhibits the effectiveness of this trend for many people.

Now that you know 3D printing’s impact, here’s a list of 3D printing examples:

  • PolyJet – A plastic 3D printing used to create various prototypes is called PolyjJet. This technology has accurate and microscopic layer resolution. It is often used with different properties, such as tones and materials.
  • Stereolithography (SLA) – This 3D printing process is often used to create parts with complex geometries daily. The SLA allows a wide range of materials and high feature resolutions.
  • Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) – FFF creates a plastic fiber layer onto a formed work. It is a fast strategy for delivering the actual models. FFF utilizes material extrusion, where thermoplastic materials are stacked.

Similar to most other processes, there are also pros and cons associated with 3D printing technology. These should be taken into account before it. Some of these are listed below:

Pros

Fast prototyping – The 3D printing trend allows quick prototyping. This can allow designers to test and execute their ideas efficiently.

Enables highly customized creatives – 3D printing can create high-quality designs that are not feasible with traditional printing.

Reduces waste – This technology can generate less waste than subtractive manufacturing methods.

Cons

Can be slow for complex objects – This printing process can have limitations regarding build volume. It may not print large objects because of the printer’s size.

Design limitations – For 3D printing, there are still intricate designs that might be challenging for this technology.

Some geometries are removed post-printing because of failures in the result.

Limitations of materials – 3D printing does not match the variety offered by traditional manufacturing processes.
